TMG Source Elements

TMG uses Source Elements as part of its system for recording and citing Sources. Source Elements are the fields into which you enter the information about a source, such as author, title, date, etc. TMG then assembles these elements into source notes in reports using the directions in the Output Templates. More background on the system can be found in my Source Tutorial.

TMG organizes the Source Elements into Source Element Groups, as discussed in my article Working with Source Elements and Groups.

The following tables list all the standard Source Elements, the Source Element Group in which it falls, and the data enter screen in which data is entered for that Element. Users may of course create custom Elements in addition to the standard ones listed here.

There are two sets of tables. The first table lists all the elements, alphabetically. Following that are a series of tables listing the elements according to where they are found on the TMG screens.

Standard Elements, Alphabetically by Element Name

This list includes all the standard Source Elements, listed alphabetically by Element Name. The following tables list the Elements by the data entry screen in which they appear, and may be more useful in some cases.

These Elements appear in the Title field of the General tab.

Repository Elements

These are used in defining and attaching Repositories.

Citation Elements

These Elements are used when Sources are cited for individual tags. They all appear on the Citation screen which is accessed from the Tag Entry Screen.
