Terry's TMG Tips

A Guide for Intermediate or Advanced Users

This page updated 7 Feb 2008

Version note: Applies to TMG 5, 6 & 7, though features new in TMG 6 & 7 are not covered.

For information on a broader range of topics than covered here, get the "ultimate" book on TMG – Getting the Most Out of the Master Genealogist.

I wrote two chapters covering two subjects dear to my heart – Sentence Structures and Narrative Reports. The other thirteen chapters were written by these well known experts in the use of TMG:

Richard Brogger
Multimedia and Exhibits

Jim Byram

Customizing the Program

The effort was ably directed by Lee Hoffman, who edited the book into a consistent and very readable volume. There are lots of helpful screen shots, as shown below, and other aids to made the text easier to follow and understand.

Obviously, I'm proud of my part, and I'm proud to be associated with the others that contributed to the effort. And, the good news is, the comments of readers that I've seen have been uniformly positive.

This book is separate from the user manual that is supplied in PDF format by Wholly Genes with each copy of TMG. Many users have reported that the two are different enough in approach and content that they find the book a worthwhile addition.

The book is offered both alone, and bundled with training videos, which have also received rave reviews by users. If you are interested in a copy, check out these sources:

The second printing has sold out, but a PDF version is now available from the Wholly Genes website. I don't know whether any of the overseas dealers still have printed copies.

The editor has indicated that an updated version may be available in the future, but no specifics have been announced.
